Integral Sound Healing is an ancient non-clinical, noninvasive method of practice using frequency and vibration of sound to activate the body’s natural destress response. A variety of musical instruments, including intervals of silence and biofield tuning are used together both on and around the body for optimum healing.
“Certain sounds can shift brainwave frequencies from the low of energy of guilt and fear to higher vibrations of LOVE and JOY”
~Malbert Lee, international sound alchemist
What is Integral Sound Healing?
Sound healing works on a cellular level using sound, frequency and vibration to activate the body’s own healing capabilities and bring both hemispheres of the brain into balance and harmony. It is an ancient non-clinical and noninvasive method of practice used to transform, bring into balance, and ultimately heal the physical, mental, and spiritual body through use of sound, frequency, and vibration.
A variety of easy to play musical instruments, including one’s voice and the intervals of silence in-between sounds are used together to harmonize the body on an energetic level.
Instruments are used both on and off the body for maximizing healing benefits. The instrument and frequency of the instrument is chosen to best match the frequency that the area of body would naturally vibrate at, so as to bring the body back into synchronization within itself, otherwise known as brain entertainment, to evoke Frequency Followed Response.
Sound affects the body, emotions, mind, soul, and spirit
Sound healing and can invoke positive changes in several key areas of functioning within the body. For example, sound can engage the parasympathetic response and stimulate the vagus nerve, thus aiding in healing the body and reducing stress response.
When the “rest and digest” mode of our nervous system is activated, it increases the body’s own capability to self-regulate mood such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD as well as aid in the digestive and immunity response systems of the body.
In some cases, the rhythm of music can even help organize the sensory system in those with autism.
Certain sound frequencies can facilitate positive shifts in the brainwave states and clear energetic blockages to bring forth connection to spirituality, alter consciousness, and increase or generate a sense of purpose.
Brainwave Frequencies
Brainwaves are electrical impulses created when groupings of neurons interact and communicate with each other. They also serve as a continuous stream of consciousness as they shift by ebbing a flowing according to thoughts and emotions. Varying from slow to fast, overt to subtle, brainwaves are ever changing and can be influenced externally by sound, frequency, and vibration. Brainwave frequencies correlate with the body’s mental states of conscious and are categorized into bandwidths based on their function.
Slower brainwave frequencies are associated with sleep, sluggishness, calming, creativity, intuition, daydreaming, memories, emotions, and sensations.
Faster brainwave frequencies are linked to alertness, excitement, anxiousness, complex problem solving, mathematical abilities and deep meditative states.
Brainwaves FAQ
Gamma Waves 25-100 Hz.
The intense concentration and learning Gamma waves are the fastest of all the brainwaves and are also associated with transcendental mental states, heightened states of consciousness, and bliss.
Beta Waves 13-24.9 Hz.
General problem solving and engaging Beta waves occur while we are awake and doing normal daily routines. Chemicals such as amphetamines, caffeine and nicotine can stimulate the Beta frequency. Activation of the Beta frequency is linked to emotional regulation, focus, mental clarity, and IQ. Higher Beta range such as 20-25 Hz, is linked to anxiety and chronic stress.
Alpha Waves 8-12 Hz.
Relaxing and recharging, spacey dreamy state Alpha waves occur when in a relaxed, but aware state such as when first waking up or when the body is preparing for sleep. They are associated with healing, daydreaming and creativity. Endorphins are released during the Alpha state and bring about feelings of floating, peacefulness and relaxation.
Theta Waves 4-7 Hz.
Dreaming, “the minds-eye”, meditation, spiritual awareness Theta waves are produced when sleeping or dreaming and tend to occur when drifting off to sleep or just before waking or when in a deeply relaxed state of mind. Theta waves are associated with memory formation, focus, emotions, daydreaming, and spiritual awareness. Rapid Eye Movement occurs during this frequency as is the formation of memorable dreams, lucid dreaming, such as out-of-body and paranormal experiences, astral projection, and the psychic “claire’s”.
Delta Waves 0.1 to 4 Hz.
Deep dream-less sleep, intuition, healing, psychic awareness Delta waves are the slowest of all the brainwaves and are associated with the deepest levels of restorative and healing stage of sleep. Delta waves are considered to be the optimum frequency for healing. During this frequency, altered states of consciousness can occur and it is said that Delta waves can connect one with other spiritual forces and entities. When Delta waves are seen occurring in a wake state, it is most often in infants, young children, people with brain injuries, learning problems, and severe ADHD.
The Biofield
What is biofield?
Electromagnetic energy that surrounds and infuses the human body (also sometimes referred to as Chi, Aura, and Luminous Energy Field).
Biofield Tuning
A method of sound healing that utilizes tuning forks within the biofield both around and on the body to stimulate the nervous system into moving away from the sympathetic ‘fight or flight’ mode into the parasympathetic ‘rest and digest’ mode.
